A tax rate is a simple rate applied to everything taxable as where a tax table is a scalable tax applied at different dollar amounts. Like maybe the first 5 dollars is taxed at a certail amount but after that it drops. I have been in the register biz now for twenty years and I have never ever had the reason to program a table. That will wipe out all the machine's memory back to the factory defaults. Service keys do not come with machines. You may want a service manual as well however I think I have one of those posted for free at http://www.cashregisterguys.com You can also call us and but a service key.
